GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College baseball team was in action this afternoon as they took on the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in a double-header rematch of last week's matchup. The Phoenix (4-0) defeated the Bobcats (0-8) in both games by scores of 19-10 and 10-9 in a game that came down to the final inning of play.
Game One: Wilson came out today knowing that Greensburg would be seeking revenge for last week's defeat. But that did not deter the Phoenix as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning. Freshman
Peyton Mason (Knoxville, MD, Boonsboro HS) got the bats going for Wilson with an RBI double to left field that scored one. Later in the inning, junior
Juan Rosario (Hollywood, FL., Hollywood Hills) drove in two more runs off an RBI single to right field.
In the top of the second, the powerful Phoenix offense came alive in a big way, scoring four unanswered runs in the inning. Senior
James Husar (Oxford, CT., CCBC Essex (Md.)) helped get things going with a leadoff homer to start the inning followed by a double from junior
Brandon Cook (Glen Burnie, MD., Shepherd University) that drove in two.
Junior
Cam Nolet (Annapolis, MD., S.C. Aiken) kept the Bobcat offense at bay, only giving up two hits in the first two innings, as the Blue and White continued to rack up runs. In the third inning, Wilson added six runs on two hits and one error to bring the score to 13-0 as the Phoenix took game one by a score of 19-10.
Inside the Box Score: Junior
Gerald Buchanan (Olney, MD, Montgomery CC (MD)) finished game one going 3-5 with four RBIs and a walk,
Mason gathered four RBIs and two walks, and sophomore
Michael Marrale (Sykesville, MD, Old Dominion Univ.) went 2-2 with two RBIs and four walks.
Nolet earned his second win of the season, striking out four. All together the Phoenix earned nineteen runs off fourteen hits with two errors while their opponents finished with ten runs on fifteen hits and four errors.
Game Two: After Wilson was held to a scoreless first inning, the Bobcats struck first scoring two runs in the home-half of the inning. But the Phoenix responded right away, scoring four runs in the top of the second inning, to take a 4-2 lead.
Husar added the first run a single to left that scored one, followed by a single from senior
Dylan Procopio (Pittsburgh, PA., Westmoreland Community College) that scored two more. Senior
KJ Curry (Bowie, MD., Coker University) drove in the last run of the inning with a single through the left side of the infield that knocked in one.
Picking up in the top of the fourth,
Procopio smacked a homer to left field to make the score 5-2. Later in the inning,
Marrale made the score 6-2 with an RBI single to left field.
During the top of the fifth, the Phoenix added two more runs.
Curry added the first with an RBI double to right-center, the
Marrale drove in another run after being hit by a pitch, bringing the score to 8-2.
In the top of the sixth, Greensburg started the chip away and gain some momentum, eventually taking the lead. Wilson entered the top of the seventh inning, down one run, 9-8. After such a hot start to the early season the Phoenix faced adversity for the first time, how would they respond?

Cook singled to right, junior
Eric Holz (Williamsport, PA., Loyalsock Township) stepped in to pinch it and delivered a monster, go-ahead single to left-center field that pushed Wilson in front 10-9. The lefty, junior
Trystan Housman (Harrisburg, PA., Bishop McDevitt) came in to close out the game as the Phoenix take game two by a final of 10-9.
Inside the Box Score: Procopio knocks in his second homer of the young season as he finished going 2-2 with three RBIs and a walk,
Curry went 2-5 with two RBIs and a double,
Marrale finished going 2-4 with a pair of RBIs and
Cook went 3-4. The Phoenix finished with ten runs on fourteen hits and three errors while the Bobcats finished with nine runs on nine hits and four errors.
