Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Phoenix Dropped by Chargers

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Wilson College women's lacrosse team was in action today as they traveled to take on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College. The Phoenix (0-1) fell to the Chargers (1-2) by a final score of 18-5.

How It Happened: Wilson got to work early as they defended against a flurry of shots from Lancaster Bible. Sophomore Paige Reynolds (Keedysville, MD, Boonsboro High School) managed to get the first shot off for the Phoenix, followed by another from junior Michaela Singer (Annville, PA., Annville-Cleona). As the Chargers took a 5-0 lead, Wilson continued to plug away.

Later in the first half, the Phoenix were able to find their first goal of the game as Reynolds scored off an assist from freshman Anna Gibson (Cecil County, MD, Perryville HS). However, Lancaster Bible was able to get one more goal before the half, bringing the score to 11-1.

In the second half, the Wilson offense struck again. This time, senior Lauren Rettew (Lancaster, PA, Lampeter Strasburg HS) scored off a free position shot for her first goal of the season. Shortly after, Singer found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Her night would not end there, as she was able to score again just six minutes after her first. Soon after, Rettew notched her second goal of the night off an assist from freshman Megan Simms (Frederick, MD, Governor Thomas Johnson HS). The Chargers would go on to finish this game out by a final score of 18-5.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson finished the night with 11 of their 14 shots on goal. Singer and Rettew capped off their nights with two goals and three shots on goal each. Reynolds added one goal on two shots, senior Danielle Stafford (Jessup, MD., Glen Burnie) added four shots, and goalkeepers freshmen Kyah Peifer (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield HS) and Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) combined for 12 saves.

Up Next: The Blue and White will travel to take on the Cyclones of Centenary University (0-0) on Saturday, April 3, at 1:00 pm.
