LANCASTER- Pa. - The Wilson College men's volleyball team started their season this evening with a road trip, taking on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College. The Phoenix (0-1) were taken down by the Chargers (6-3) by a final score of three sets to none.
How It Happened: In the first set, junior
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) supplied Wilson their first point of the match as he helped even the contest up at one apiece early on. Later in the set, Lancaster Bible pushed their lead out to 19-3 after jumping on a 12-0 run as they would go on to take the first set by a final score of 25-6.
Fifth-year senior
Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) helped rack up the first point for the Phoenix in the second set with a kill, assisted by
Hetzer. Shortly after,
Perry and junior
Shae Cardenas (Torrance, CA., West Los Angeles CC) added a point as they combined on a block for Wilson. The Chargers would go on to finish the second set out by a score of 25-7 and then the third set by a score of 25-4.

Hetzer both led the team in kills and assists. Sophomore
Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA, Notre Dame) wrapped up the contest with four digs, while
Cardenas added two, and freshman
Ian Ruiz (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Colegio y Noviciado Santa Maria del Camino) tallied his first dig of his college career. The Phoenix finished the night with two kills on forty attempts against fifteen errors while their opponents finished with thirty-four kills on forty-eight attempts against five errors.
