CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team tipped off against non-conference opponent Bridgewater College this afternoon. The Phoenix (2-3, 0-0 CSAC) secured their second win of the season over the Bridgewater College Eagles (2-4, 0-0 ODAC) with a final score of 78-69.
How It Happened: Wilson started the game earning a steal and a quick layup by junior
Warrick Godwin Jr. (Largo, MD, College of So. MD) putting the Phoenix up 2-0. Junior
Antonio Bussey (Aiken, SC, Claflin Univ.) scored his first points of the game slamming the ball in for a dunk in the third minute of action for the Phoenix his first of two in the half. The Phoenix continued to push on offense and after two made free throws for
Bussey the Phoenix pushed and built a five-point lead ending the half with another Bussey dunk assisted by senior
Xavier Dowtin (Oxon Hill, MD., Oxon Hill HS). Going into the second half the Phoenix were up 33-28 and continued to build the lead to 44-33.
Antonio Bussey earned three back-to-back dunks to put the score at 48-37 with 14 left to play in the half. Wilson ended the game up by nine with a final score of 78-69, off two made free throws by senior
Xavier Dowtin.
Inside the Box Score: Fast breaks and points in the paint were key to Wilson's success tonight against the Eagles. Wilson scored 54 points in the paint and 17 points off fast breaks. Junior
Antonio Bussey led the Phoenix with 33 points, five dunks, six rebounds, and one block on the day. Senior
Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD., Northwest HS) had the next highest points with 14 scored and junior
Daeshaun Johnson (Waldorf, MD, St. Charles HS) had the most rebounds for the team earning seven off the boards.
Up Next: The Phoenix will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. for a non-conference contest against the Susquehanna University Riverhawks (3-2, 0-0 Landmark) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30.
