Phoenix Win Over Wildcats

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College Phoenix faced off against visiting Penn College, Tuesday night in a non-conference match. The Phoenix (1-3, 0-0 CSAC) finished the game on a solid offensive note beating the Wildcats (0-4, 0-0 NEAC) 71-48. 

How It Happened: The Phoenix started the game, winning the first battle, the jump ball, junior Antonio Bussey (Aiken, SC, Claflin Univ.) won the jump ball tapping it back to his teammates. The Wildcats were the first to score off a quick jumper. Wilson went on to score the next seven points of the game before a Penn College three put the game at 7-5 early in the first half. Late in the first half, a three-pointer by senior Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD., Northwest HS), sparked Wilson's offense. To close out the first half Wilson held the lead 32-25, up seven going into halftime. 

The second half started on an exciting note for the Phoenix with the first points of the half coming off a dunk by Bussey his first of two in the half.  His second dunk came minutes later off a pass from junior Daeshaun Johnson (Waldorf, MD, St. Charles HS) leading him right under the basket for a basket by the Phoenix. The Phoenix offense continued to fire and make shots building their lead by 19 points bringing the score to 48-29 before the Wildcats found a basket. From that moment on the closest the game came was with the Phoenix up by ten points. The Phoenix ended the game with a score of 71-48 securing the first win of the season.

Inside the Box Score:  Senior Adrian Thomas and junior Warrick Godwin Jr. (Largo, MD, College of So. MD) were the leading scorers, scoring 15 and 14 points for the Phoenix. Junior Daeshaun Johnson was a beast on the boards today earning ten rebounds, three offensive and seven defensive rebounds.
