DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Wilson College women's soccer team hit the road to close out non-conference play against the Aggies of Delaware Valley University. The Phoenix (9-6, 7-1 CSAC) were defeated by the Aggies (7-8, 0-7 MAC) by a final score of 2-0.
How It Happened: Delaware Valley started the match off hot, scoring in the third minute of the match. Shortly after, freshman
Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, MD, Linganore High School) deafened against a flurry of Aggie attacks that kept the score at 1-0. Wilson had a corner kick late in the first half but could not find the back of the net, as they marched into halftime trailing 1-0. Delaware Valley opened up the second half with a few shots that were wide of the net, as the Phoenix looked to get back into the match. In the sixty-second minute of play, the Aggies notched their second goal of the match, extending their lead to 2-0. Later, freshman
Rachel Coulter (Woodbridge, VA, Gar-field) tallied the first shot for Wilson that was saved by the Delaware Valley keeper. A few minutes later, the Aggies added another goal as the Phoenix came up short, falling by a score of 3-0.
Inside the Box Score: Marakovitz and freshman
Erin Roszkowiak (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) tallied three saves apiece in the loss, while the Phoenix were outshot a total of 18-1. Wilson recorded three corner kicks in the match.Â
