Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Phoenix Fall To Giants

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College men's soccer team fall to Keystone College in conference action tonight. Despite scoring first and early, Keystone (5-4-1, 2-0 CSAC) recorded a victory over the Phoenix (0-7,0-2 CSAC) with a final score of 2-1.

How It Happened: Wilson started the game hot, starting with possession and earning an early goal in the second minute of action.  Sophomore Connor Bowers (Hagerstown, MD, North Hagerstown High School) dribbled down the outside of the field and sent in a cross waiting for junior Ryder Wallace (Jim Thorpe, PA., Jim Thorpe) who slipped the ball past the Keystone keeper, giving Wilson a 1-0. The Phoenix continued the hunt for the next goal in the first half but did not manage to find the back of the net. Keystone kept a strong offensive front throughout the first half, but Wilson's defense held strong not surrendering any goals to the Giants. In the second half, Keystone came out hungry for a goal and found one late in the 54th minute bringing the score to an even 1-1. The battle for the next goal continued throughout the next 20 minutes of play with a handful of opportunities for each team. The Giants managed to break the stalemate in the 76th minute scoring the winning goal for Keystone, bringing the score to its final 2-1.

Inside The Box Score: Four different Phoenix saw shots on goal today, while six different Phoenix recorded having shot attempts. Senior goalkeeper, Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) played a strong game earning himself three saves along with other critical touches to keep the game close.
