PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team continued Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play earlier this afternoon, as they took on the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge. The Phoenix (2-9, 2-3 CSAC) dropped the Patriots by a final score of 2-0.
How It Happened: Junior
Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA., Notre Dame)Â got the action started for Wilson with a shot that sailed high, just over five minutes into the match. About two minutes later, sophomore
Connor Bowers (Hagerstown, MD, North Hagerstown High School) rifled off a shot that was saved by the Valley Forge goalkeeper. The big moment came in the tenth minute of play. That's when freshman
Noah Bowe (Ashburn, VA, Stone Bridge High School) ripped a shot by the keeper off an assist from
Bowers. Putting the Phoenix up 1-0. Wilson fired off 13 more shots in the half before they entered halftime leading, 1-0. In the second half of play, Wilson picked up right where they left off, keep the offensive pressure turned up with a flurry of shots early. This continued throughout the half until sophomore
Dylan Youmans (Westminster, MD, South Carroll High School)Â found the pack of the net off a pass from junior
Ryder Wallace (Jim Thorpe, PA., Jim Thorpe), as Wilson walked away with the 2-0 win.Â
Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix outshot the Patriots a total of 30-6, including 17-2 with shots on goal, with 10 different student-athletes managing shots.
Bowers paced both teams with a total of seven shots. Wilson also lead both teams in corner kicks, finishing with six.
Bowe and
Youmans tallied goals while
Bowers and
Wallace recorded assists. Senior goalkeeper
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) collected two saves in the shutout victory.Â
