Phoenix Take Pair From Pacers

Emmitsburg, Md.- The Wilson Phoenix baseball team earned their third and fourth straight victories today, coming against the visiting Pacers of Marywood University with scores of 7-3 in game one and 4-1 in game two. With the two wins, the Phoenix improve to 4-2 overall.

The Phoenix would go scoreless until the bottom of the second with Shae Cardenas (Torrance, Calif.) getting a two-out rally started with a walk. Juan Rosario (Hollywood, Fla., Hollywood Hills) then stepped in and delivered an RBI double to plate Cardenas. Brandon Cook (Glen Burnie, Md.) extended the inning with another walk, and after a double steal, Nick Quinn (Odenton, Md., St. Mary's) singled up the middle to score both baserunners.

Marywood tied the game in the top of the third, but the Phoenix regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning when KJ Curry (Bowie, Md.) blasted a ball over the left-field wall. Pitching for both sides was strong for the next inning and a half before Kevin Finn (Gaithersburg, Md., Watkins Mill) added to the Wilson lead with a two-run single.

The Phoenix went on to score one more in the bottom of the sixth as Max Little (Crestview, Fla., Spangdahlem)finished the final two innings on the mound, allowing no runs on just one hit while striking out one, helping the Phoenix to a 7-3 win.
