LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Wilson College men's volleyball team hit the road to take on the Highlanders of Cairn University this evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. The Phoenix (1-5, 0-0 NEAC) were defeated by the Highlanders (5-8, 0-0 CSAC) by three sets to one. Cairn took the first set, 25-11, and the second set, 25-13. But, Wilson rallied back and took the third set, 25-19, but fell in the fourth set, 25-12.
How It Happened: Senior
Ian Firestone (York, Pa., York Suburban) led the Phoenix attack with 12 kills while racking up 11 assists and two blocks. Senior
Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) also had a solid outing as he tallied up 10 kills in the match while leading the team in assists with 12. Sophomore
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) came up with 11 digs and added two aces and one assist while freshman
Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA, Notre Dame) finished with nine digs. Senior
Dan Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) added three kills, two blocks, and six digs to the match.
Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix finished with 27 kills on 116 attempts against 28 errors while their opponent had 24 kills on 102 attempts against 15 errors. Wilson finished with 41 digs, 25 total assists, three aces and two blocks in the match.
Up Next: The men's volleyball team will have some time off before they host their first home match against the Ravens of Rosemont College (0-8, 0-0 CSAC) on Friday, February 28, at 7:00 pm.
