Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spartans Rout Phoenix

YORK, Pa.- The Wilson men's basketball team hit the road this evening for their final non-conference contest of the season against the York College Spartans. York took control early in this one and never looked back as they came away with an 81-49 victory over the Phoenix. With the loss, Wilson falls to 7-11 on the season.

How It Happened: Anthony Desruisseau (Burtonsville, Md., Springbrook HS) knocked down a three early in the first half to make the score 11-8 in favor of York, but the Spartans quickly grabbed a double-digit lead as they started on what would be a 10-3 run, taking a 21-11 with 12 minutes left in the half. York continued to stretch their lead throughout the remainder of the first half, and with 4 minutes to play, they had a 15-point cushion over the Phoenix. Wilson scored five straight points, including a three from Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) to cut the deficit to ten, but the Spartans scored just before the buzzer to take a 12-point lead into the locker room. Wilson shot 30% in the half from both the field and three while Adrian Thomas (Germantown, Md., Northwest HS) and Anthony Desruisseau led the team with seven points apiece.

A 13-2 run to start the second half from the Spartans allowed them to push their advantage up to 23 just 4 minutes into the half. By the midway point, York held a commanding 30 point lead as they would go on to cruise their way to a 32-point win. The Phoenix struggled from the field in the second half, shooting a mere 19% from the field. Darryl Garib (Dallas, Texas, Forest Park) led Wilson with seven points in the second half.

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix finished the night shooting 24% from the field and 28% from three. Anthony Desruisseau led the team with 10 points while Adrian Thomas added 8. Darryl Garib finished with 7 points while pulling down a team-high 5 rebounds.
