Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Phoenix Topple Giants

LA PLUME, PA, - The Wilson College men's basketball team looked to extend their win streak to four games as they got set to take on the Giants of Keystone College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup, earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix (6-9, 3-2 CSAC) defeated the Giants (5-10, 2-4 CSAC) by a score of 71-65.

How It Happened: Senior Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Tx, Forest Park) started the game off with a three that put Wilson ahead, 3-0. The Phoenix continued to shoot the ball well from deep as sophomore Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD, Northwest HS), junior Christian Evans (Baltimore, MD, Our Lady Of Mount Carmel), and sophomore Anthony Desruisseau (Burtonsville, MD, Springbrook HS) all knocked down threes early on. Both teams battled back-and-forth throughout the first as there were eight lead changes and four tied scores in this half alone. Wilson would go into halftime leading by a score of 32-29.

In the second, junior Zachary Powell (Manassas, VA, Osbourn) opened up play with a deep three. Later on in the half, Powell would go on to hit back-to-back threes on back-to-back possessions that extended the Wilson lead to six with fifteen and a half minutes remaining. Shortly after, freshman Jeremiah Carter-Johnson (Richmond, VA, Mills E. Godwin) and junior Kyle Hoffman (Waynesboro, PA, Waynesboro) got in on the mix with threes of their own, as the Phoenix finished the second half shooting 40% from beyond the arc. Wilson would go on to win the game by a final score of 71-65.

Inside the Box Score: Powell led the team with 21 points on his way to racking up nine rebounds. Bean tallied 14 points while Desruisseau and Thomas both finished with 10. The Phoenix finished shooting 40% from the field while their opponent finished shooting 48%. A big difference in the game was Wilson being able to score 14 points off of Keystone's 12 turnovers while holding the Giants to just three points off turnovers.

Up Next: CSAC play continues for the men's basketball team as they get set to travel to Rosemont College on Wednesday, January 5, where they will take on the Ravens (5-9, 2-1 CSAC) at 8:00 pm.
