Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Phoenix Blanked by Bishops

DELAWARE, Oh. - The Wilson College field hockey team finished up the second match of a Midwestern road trip with a 3-0 loss to Ohio Wesleyan University. The Phoenix (1-2), playing on back-to-back days for the first time this season, were unable to get the offense going versus the Battling Bishops (3-1).

How It Happened: The Battling Bishops dominated from the outset tallying 17 shots in the first quarter alone. Late in the first corner, the hosts got on the scoreboard with a redirected shot on a penalty corner to grab a 1-0 lead. Despite giving up the one goal in the quarter, junior goalkeeper Krista Nayadley (Hampton, VA, Hampton) recorded 6 saves in the period. During the second quarter the Phoenix settled down and limited the Battling Bishops to 8 shots and junior Allison Reber (Narvon, PA., Garden Spot) tallied the first and only shot of the day for the visitors, but the attempt was blocked. In the third and fourth quarters, the hosts added single goals in each period to make the final score 3-0.

Inside the Box Score: For the match the Battling Bishops out shot the Phoenix 48-1, including 16-1 in shots on goal. The hosts also enjoyed a 21-1 advantage in penalty corners. Nayadley recorded a career high 13 saves. Her previous record was 12 set against Frostburg State her freshman season.
