HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's volleyball traveled to continue nonconference play, this time they took on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg. The Phoenix (3-5, 0-0) were defeated by the Nittany Lions (4-3, 0-0) three sets to one.
How It Happened: Penn State would take the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-18. Wilson would win the third, 25-22, but the Nittany Lions would take the last set 25-22.
Sophomore
Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) led the Phoenix with 11 kills, freshman
Anika Eigen-Zucchi (Washington, D.C., St. Johns College High School) set a new career-high with eight, and
Tia Jones (Springfield, VA., Lake Braddock) finished with five.
Eigen-Zucchi continued to have a record-setting night, she would finish with a career-high five aces as well. Freshman
Jenna Mongold (Mercersburg, PA., James Buchanan) supplied the assists all night, she went on to finish with 27.
Posiulai,
Eigen-Zucchi, and
Mongold would all lead Wilson in digs as they finished with 21, 17 and 11, respectively.
All together the Phoenix finished with 31 kills on 134 attempts against 31 errors while their opponent finished with 41 kills on 145 attempts against 23 errors. Wilson also finished with seven aces, 75 digs, and three blocks in the match.
Up Next: the women's volleyball team will be back on the court on Tuesday, September 7, where they will host the Crusaders of Christendom College (2-5, 0-0) at 7:00 P.M.
