FREDERICK, Md. - The Wilson College men's soccer team kicked their season off with a road contest against Wesley College. The Phoenix (0-1) were taken down by the Wolverines (1-0) by a final score of 6-0.
How It Happened: Wilson was able to stop a Wesley attack early on in the game as senior goalkeeper
Dan Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) was able to gather two saves. Shortly after, the Phoenix created their own opportunity to score with a corner that led to a shot by freshman
Garrick Hill (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg) in the fourteenth minute of the game.Â
Later on, still in the first half, the Wolverines were able to score two, quick, back-to-back goals; this brought the score to 2-0 Wesley in the twenty-seventh minute of the match. The Phoenix saw several scoring chances in the first half but could not find the back of the net. Wesley would go on to score three more goals in the first half as Wilson would enter halftime trailing 5-0.
In the second half, the Phoenix defense would defend a flurry of shots early on from the Wolverines but could not capitalize on offense. Wesley would go on to win by a final score of 6-0.
