Baseball Earns Five All-Conference Selections

ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2019 Baseball End of Year Awards. Wilson, a first-year program, saw five players land spots on the All-Conference teams. Freshman Hunter Cheek (San Antonio, Texas, Smithson Valley) was the only Phoenix player named to the first-team. Freshmen Kevin Ehrman (York, Pa., Central York) and Nick Quinn (Odenton, Md., St. Mary's) were both selected to the second-team while Juan Rosario (Hollywood, Fla., Hollywood Hills) and Zach Sutherland (Lumberton, N.J., Rancocas Valley) earned honorable mention honors.

Cheek, the programs first ever first-team honoree, finished the regular season with a .382 batting average, .429 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging. Cheek collected 39 hits during the season, including 3 home runs to finish second on the team while totaling 19 RBIs on the year. He also finished 1-1 as a pitcher with a 4.64 ERA and 19 strikeouts, including a 1-0 complete game shutout to hand Keystone College their only conference loss.

Ehrman, who was also selected as the CSAC Rookie of the Year, led all Phoenix pitchers in wins with six to give him the second most wins in the CSAC. Ehrman went 6-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA which led the conference. Ehrman held opponent hitters to just a .203 batting average, good enough for second in the CSAC, while finishing the season with 39 strikeouts in 40 innings of work.

Nick Quinn, the other second-team selection for the Phoenix, ended the season leading the Phoenix in batting average by hitting .394. Quinn also led the team in on-base percentage (.472), hits (41), stolen bases (12), and runs scored (30). Quinn finished the regular season second on the team with 23 RBIs.

Rosario, an honorable mention selection, hit .348 during the season to finish third on the team. He also finished second on the team in hits with 39 while picking up 17 RBIs.

Sutherland, another honorable mention selection for Wilson, finished his freshman pitching campaign with a 2.08 ERA and a 3-2 record. Sutherland threw 30.1 innings for the Phoenix while striking out 26 hitters along the way. He held opposing hitters to a .189 batting average and threw two complete games during the season.

The Phoenix are in action today in the first round of the CSAC Playoffs against Cairn University at 3:00 p.m.
