MARCY, N.Y. - The Wilson College men's volleyball team battled SUNY Poly in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match-up. The Wildcats (15-11, 6-2 NEAC) topped the Phoenix (5-14. 2-7 NEAC) 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-9.

How it Happened: After pulling ahead 6-3 in the first set, the Wildcats scored six of the next ten points to push their lead to 12-7. The Phoenix battled back into the set and cut the lead to 17-14 on a kill by senior Aaron Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa., Commonwealth Connections Academy) with an assist form junior Ian Firestone (York, Pa., York Suburban) but the team would get no closer as the Wildcats went on to take the set 25-19. In the second set the Phoenix jumped out to an early 4-0 lead highlighted by a pair of Aaron Hoke kills and blocks by senior Allen Bull (New Freedom, Pa., Susquehannock) and freshman Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian). The Wildcats roared back taking seven of the next eight points to grab a 7-5 advantage. Trailing 17-12, the Phoenix tallied seven of the next eight points highlighted by kills by Aaron Hoke and junior Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) to jump in front 19-18. With the Phoenix ahead 22-21 in the set, the Wildcats got a pair of kills and took advantage of a couple of Phoenix miscues to take the set 25-22. The third and final set was all Wildcats as the hosts jumped out to a 10-1 edge and never looked back, finishing off the Phoenix 25-9 and 3-0 for the match.
