Men's Volleyball Falls to Knights

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College men's volleyball team was in action this morning as they squared off against the Knights of Arcadia University. The Phoenix ( 1-2, 0-1 NEAC) were defeated by the Knights (11-4, 1-0 MAC) three sets to none with scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-21.

How It Happened: The Knights jumped out to an early lead early in the first set. After the Phoenix took a timeout with the score 21-9 , they started to gain some momentum but it proved to be too late. Arcadia would close out the first set 25-14. In the second set, Wilson carried their momentum early on. The Knights started to pull away, however, and forced the Phoenix to call a timeout with the score being 15-11. Seniors Aaron Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa., Commonwealth Connections Academy) and Zachary McMaster (Gettysburg, Pa., New Oxford) helped fuel the Wilson offense as they were able to combine for 5 kills in the set, all of which were assisted by junior Ian Firestone (York, Pa., York Suburban). Despite a valiant effort from the Phoenix, Arcadia took the set 25-21. In the third and final set, the Knights took control early and rushed out to an 11-6 lead, which promoted a Wilson timeout. The Phoenix composed themselves and started to chip away at the lead. Aaron Hoke would help keep the Blue and White in the game as he was able to collect four digs and one ace during the set. Senior Evan Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa., Commonwealth Connections Academy) also contributed by adding his own 3 digs in the set. The Knights would take this set by a score of 25-21, giving them the 3-0 victory.
