Eagles Swoop Past Phoenix

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team traveled to take on the Eagles of Juniata College on the first night of the Comfort Inn Tip-Off Tournament. The Phoenix (1-5, 0-0 CSAC) were defeated by the Eagles (1-1, 0-0 LMC) by a score of 69-52.

How It Happened: Juniata started the game on a 17-0 run until senior Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Tx, Forest Park) was able to open up scoring with a three. The Wilson offense started to gain some momentum as they were able to put together some solid scoring plays that cut the Eagles lead to 12 points with just under eight minutes left in the opening half, thanks to a three-point shot from freshman Jeremiah Carter-Johnson (Richmond, VA, Mills E. Godwin). The Phoenix hung around but could not cut the deficit down as they would enter halftime trailing, 44-23.

Wilson opened up the second half on an 11-4 run that brought the score to 48-34 with 14:07 remaining. The offense started to click as they were able to get several players involved in the scoring on this run. Later on, the Phoenix continued to gain some momentum as they were able to cut the lead to 11, bringing the score to 53-42 with eight and a half minutes left in the game. But Juniata would extend their lead to 21 points as they were able to start a 14-4 run as the Phoenix would go on to be defeated by a final score of 69-52.
