Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late Rally Downs Phoenix

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team squared off against the Green Terror of McDaniel College in a nonconference match up this evening. The Phoenix (1-4, 0-0 CSAC) were defeated by the Green Terror (2-1, 9-9 CEN) by a final score of 60-58.

How It Happened: Wilson started the game out hot as they sunk two three-pointers by senior Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Tx, Forest Park) and sophomore Olamide Banjo (Largo, MD, Largo HS) to jump ahead 6-0 in the opening minutes of the game. McDaniel would rally back and knot the game up at eight apiece with just under sixteen minutes left in the half. After falling behind 12-10, Wilson started a 12-2 run that put them ahead, 22-14 with just over five minutes to go in the half. The Phoenix would enter the half winning by a score of 34-26.

Wilson would open the second half with a deep three from junior Zachary Powell (Manassas, VA, Osbourn) assisted from sophomore Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD, Northwest HS). Later on in the half, the Phoenix continued to battle and were able to knock down another three-pointer. This time Xavier Dowtin (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill HS) was able to drain the bucket that extended Wilson's lead to 51-46 with nine minutes remaining. The Green Terror would start a 12-1 run that flipped the score in their favor, 58-52. But Wilson was able to tie the game off of three's coming from Banjo and Powell that knotted things up 58 apiece, with under a minute and a half left in the game. McDaniel would go on to win the game off two free throws, called on a loose ball scrum, that gave them the 60-58 victory.
