CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team hosted the Defenders of Clarks Summit University this afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match. During halftime of today's match, the men's soccer seniors were honored as they got set to play their final match at home. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Phoenix (4-13-0, 2-4-0 CSAC) were defeated by the Defenders (5-10-1, 3-3-0 CSAC) by a final score of 2-0.
How It Happened: The Phoenix got things started with a shot by senior
Dan Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) that sailed wide left of the goal. Clarks Summit would follow that up with a shot of their own that would sneak past the Wilson keeper as the Defenders were able to take an early 1-0 lead in the twelfth minute of play. Wilson kept firing as sophomore
Victor Celleri and freshman
Garrick Hill (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg)Â both launched shots on goal that were both saved. The Phoenix would enter the half still trailing, 1-0. In the second half, both teams battled for possession as Wilson continued fighting for the equalizing goal. Later on in the half, Clarks Summit was able to score again as they pushed the score to 2-0. The Phoenix would go on to be defeated by a final score of 2-0.
