Phoenix Fall in Season Finale


LANGHORNE, Pa.- The Wilson men's soccer team took on the Highlanders of Cairn University this afternoon in their final game of the 2019 season. The Phoenix (4-14, 2-5 CSAC) were defeated by the Highlanders in the finale, 5-0. 

How It Happened: Cairn got rolling early on in the match as they were able to net their first goal of the game just 15 minutes into play. Less than 10 minutes later the Highlanders extended their lead to two with another goal.

Garrick Hill (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg) generated the only scoring opportunity for the Phoenix in the first half, but his shot was snagged by the Cairn goalie. 

The Highlanders put the Phoenix in a deeper hole with early in the second half with their third goal of the game coming within the first 10 minutes.

Cairn went on to add two more goals in the period, capping off their 5-0 win. The Phoenix had only three shots in the second half, one of which was on goal. 

Inside the Box Score: Shots were 21-4 in favor of the hosts while they also held the advantage in shots on goal, 9-2. Garrick Hill led the Phoenix with two shots while Joe Pacheco (Jonesboro, Ark., The Academies at Jonesboro) and Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA., Notre Dame ) each added one.
