Ravens Rout Phoenix


ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Wilson college men's soccer team took on the Rosemont College Ravens this evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match. The Ravens (6-7-1, 2-1 CSAC) used four second-half goals to propel themselves past the Phoenix (3-11,1-2 CSAC) on their way to a 4-1 victory.

How It Happened: After over 40 minutes of scoreless play, Phoenix freshman Juan Lamy (Clarksburg, Md., Living Grace Christian School) sent a shot toward the net that was blocked aside by the Rosemont goalie. The Ravens' goaltender could not corral the ball as Lamy was able to take a shot off his own rebound and scored to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead just before the half. 

The Ravens came out of the half strong, knotting the score at one just ten minutes into the second half. Two minutes later a foul by Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) led to a Rosemont penalty kick, which they capitalized on to take a 2-1 lead. Rosemont took their momentum and ran with it, netting their third goal in twenty minutes to move ahead 3-1. Rosemont went on to add another goal in the final minute to finish off a 4-1 win.

Inside the Box Score: Shots were 24-16 in favor of the Ravens who also controlled shots on goal, 10-7. Juan Lamy had the lone goal for Wilson while five other Phoenix players registered multiple shots in the game. Wilson keeper Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, Pa., Cumberland Valley Christian) collected six saves in the match. 

Up Next: The Phoenix will host Centenary University (4-10, 3-0 CSAC) on Saturday in another CSAC match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
