LA PLUME, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team faced the Giants of Keystone College on the road in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest. The Phoenix ( 3-10, 2-3 CSAC) were taken down by the Giants by a score of 5-3.
How It Happened: The Wilson offense started hot as freshman
Juan Lamy (Clarksburg, MD., Living Grace Christian School) that sailed off target. Shortly after, in the eleventh minute, they were able to score as freshman
Joe Pacheco (Jonesboro, ARK., The Academies at Jonesboro) connected on an assist from freshman
Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA., Notre Dame ) that put the Phoenix up 1-0. Later on, in the half, Wilson got the defense going as senior goalkeeper
Dan Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) collected six saved in the half. Keystone, however, would find the equalizing goal right before the forty-fourth minute make, to knot things up at 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, the offense would continue to roll as freshman
Christopher Sosa (Mechanicsburg, PA., Mechanicsburg) beat the keeper, putting the Phoenix up 2-1. Two minutes later, the Giants would come knocking and even the match at two apiece. Keystone scored two more goals, putting them ahead 4-2 before Wilson would score again. This time sophomore
Victor Celleri pushed the ball to sophomore
Brandt Mellott (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg) who was able to tally his first goal of the season, pushing the score to 4-3 still in the Giants favor. The Phoenix went on to lose by a final score of 5-3 in ninety-minutes of play.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson was outshot 32-11 and 18-6 on goal in the match as
Perry finished with 13 saves.
Sosa scored his scored goal of the season as
Pacheco scored his third.
