The Phoenix (11-7, 6-5 CSAC) got 23 points from sophomore Michaela Singer (Annville, Pa., Annville-Cleona) in the win over the Defenders (0-19, 0-11 CSAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED: A tight first quarter saw the Phoenix grab their first lead on a layup by freshman L'Shana Cobey (Silver Spring, MD, Montgomery Blair) to make the score 9-7. After pushing the lead to seven points on a layup by senior Lindsey Purvis (Fort Myers, Fl, South Fort Myers), the Defenders drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer of the first quarter to make the score 18-14 after one. During the second quarter, the Phoenix blew the game open by outscoring the Defenders 22-8. Singer tallied 8 points in the quarter including two big three-pointers as the Phoenix extended their lead to 40-22 at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Phoenix continued to push their lead as Singer stayed hot with 6 points and and freshman Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) closed out the quarter with a pair of offensive rebounds and put backs and the hosts led 59-36 after three quarters of play. Senior Amber Watkins (Honesdale, Pa, Honesdale) drilled a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter and the defense held the Defenders offense in check, limiting the visitors to just 8 points in the final period as the Phoenix cruised to the 70-47 win.

Inside the Box Score: Offensively, the Phoenix shot 38% from the floor and were led by Singer who tallied 23 points.
