Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Phoenix Overpower Lions to Win Sixth Straight

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Phoenix men's basketball team returned to action tonight against the Lions of Bryn Athyn College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest. Wilson (9-9, 5-1 CSAC) was in complete control from the start and rolled to a 101-71 victory over the Lions (4-14, 2-4 CSAC).

How It Happened: Wilson quickly took command in the game by jumping out to an 11-4 lead within the first 2 minutes. Sophomore Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) drilled a three to kick things off, that three was followed by a jumper from freshman Daeshaun Johnson (Waldorf, Md., St. Charles HS). The Lions scored on their next possession but Powell and Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Texas, Forest Park) connected on back-to-back threes to give the Phoenix the seven-point lead.

By the 12:30 mark in the first half the Phoenix had extended their lead to 16 points. After a few possessions of trading buckets, Wilson went on an 8-0 run to make the score 42-21 in favor of the Phoenix. Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) led the run with 6 points. The Lions closed out the half with a 7-2 run but still found themselves trailing by 25 heading into the locker room.

Wilson came out of the half with a similar energy that they played with in the first. Four minutes into the second period the Phoenix held a comfortable 71-43 lead. The Lions played a solid second half offensively but were unable to stop the Phoenix on the defensive end. Offensively for Wilson, 11 players scored in the game including 6 in double figures, which allowed the Phoenix to remain in control throughout the entire contest.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson shot a hot 46% from the field and hit 15 three-pointers in the game, shooting 41%. Keion Adams led both teams with 20 points while grabbing 8 rebounds. Rashaan Bean had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists to complete his solid night. Junior Jake Young (Friendship, Md.) had 12 points all of which came off of three-pointers. Zachary Powell, Daeshaun Johnson and Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) all finished with 10 points a piece.

Up Next: The Phoenix are back in action this Thursday at Centenary (7-10, 3-2 CSAC). Start time is set for 8:00 p.m.
