Women's Basketball Takes Out Trinity

CHAMERSBURG, Pa.- The women's basketball team of Wilson College returned to action tonight as they squared off against the Tigers of Trinity University (DC).  The game ended with 3:35 to go as a forfeit was declared. The Phoenix win with the final score being 127-7. 

How It Happened: The Phoenix had the whole team ready to go in this game. Senior Lindsey Purvis (Fort Myers, Fla, South Fort Myers) got things going for Wilson as she was able to connect on a layup off a senior Amber Watkins (Honesdale, Pa., Honesdale) assist. Points would come in waves for the Phoenix throughout the contest as every player was able to score points in this game. Purvis was able to keep her double-double streak going, she finished with a game high 38 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Michaela Singer (Annville, Pa., Annville-Cleona) finished second in the scoring department for Wilson, she finished with 32. Watkins would finish with a new season high 17 points while freshman Tori Cole (Middleburg, Fla., Orange Park) finished with a new career-high in assists, she led the Phoenix with seven.  Rounding out the scoring for Wilson: senior Kai Wyatt (Baltimore, Md., Md Acad Tech & Hlth Sci) scored 15 points, freshmen L'Shana Cobey (Silver Spring, Md., Montgomery Blair) and Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, Hawaii., University Laboratory School) added 10 points a piece, while Cole finished with five. 

Inside The Box Score: The Phoenix capped off their night, shooting 59% from the floor and 67% from the foul line. Purvis finished 19-25 from the floor, Singer  went 15-30, and Watkins finished 8-14 shooting. 

Up Next: Wilson will be back in action this Friday, January 18, as they will face-off against conference foe Bryn Athyn (1-14, 1-6 CSAC) here at Gannett Memorial Field House.
