Phoenix Draw With Lions in Double OT

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- Despite wet conditions, the Wilson College men's soccer team battled the Lions of Albright College in a match that ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw after two overtimes.

How It Happened: The Phoenix got on the board early in the contest when a shot from senior Justin Vizzi (Spotswood, NJ, Spotswood) deflected off of the Albright keeper and was booted into the net by junior Silvio Andrade (Guayaquil, Ecuador, ) to put Wilson up 1-0.  Albright took just five minutes to respond when Billy Hanratty rebounded a deflection off of the goalkeeper to tie the score at one. The Lions took momentum into the half as Anthony Parlato scored with just under five minutes remaining. The Phoenix battled back in the sixty-fourth minute when senior Aaron Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii) connected with his brother Ethan Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii, Radford) to even things up again. A winner couldn't be decided in regulation as the two teams would have to battle it out in overtime. Despite a few close chances for both squads, neither was able to score to give their team a victory as the match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson had 28 shots for the game, 14 of which were on net. Ethan Russ led the Phoenix with seven shots connecting on just one while Justin Vizzi and Aaron Russ both tallied assists. Junior goalie Dan Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) had seven saves on the day.

Up Next: The Phoenix will travel to Winchester, Va. this Wednesday for a 7 pm match against Shenandoah University.
