Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Wolverines Edge Phoenix 1-0

Dover, Del.- The Wilson College men's soccer team traveled to Wesley College Tuesday night for a non-conference match. Nicholas Hood scored the lone goal for the Wolverines to help them improve to 3-0 to start the season. Wilson drops to 1-2 after back-to-back one goal losses.

How It Happened: The Wolverines attacked early as they were able to register their first shot on goal off a header by Chimaobi Ikwuagwu less than a minute into the game. Despite the early charge, play settled down for both teams until Nicholas Hood scored with less than fifteen minutes to play in the first half. The only opportunity for the Phoenix came early in the second half when sophomore Samuel Appiah (Kumasi, Ghana, Opoku Ware School) sent a header to the net that was saved by the Wolverine goalie, Jason Sommer. Wesley was able to hold on to the lead for the remainder of the match to win 1-0.

Inside the Box Score: Appiah's shot would be the only shot on goal for the Phoenix, the team had just seven shots total. JuniorKieren Marshall (Melbourne, Australia, Haileybury) had six saves on the night.

Up Next: The Phoenix will host Albright College in their 2018 home opener this Saturday at 1:30 pm. The game will be played at Chambersburg Middle School South.
