Giants Gash Phoenix

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- This afternoon, the Wilson College women's volleyball team squared off against the Giants of Keystone College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) showdown. The Phoenix (2-9, 0-2) traded rallies with the Giants (5-9, 1-0) throughout the match, but ultimately lost 3-1 by scores of 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-22. 

How It Happened: Wilson came out red hot in this one. They took an early lead in the first set and traded rallies throughout, eventually taking the first set 25-18. The Giants would respond in the second set however; they fell behind early in the set but recovered and took the lead winning 25-20. The third set had both teams coming out and rallying with one another; they traded points back and forth but Keystone would take this set as well, 25-19. In the fourth and final set the Giants came out strong and took a commanding lead early. Wilson called a time out and started a major comeback; it was too late though as the Keystone would capture the set 25-22, giving them the victory. 

Inside the Box Score: Freshman Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) led the Phoenix with 12 kills while junior Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Coconut Creek) contributed nine. Freshman Kristina Zuniga (McAllen, TX., King George) would end the night with 23 assists and 22 digs and sophomore Sierra Hill (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown) finished with 18 digs. 

Up next: The Phoenix continue CSAC play as they host Notre Dame of Maryland University this Thursday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m.
