Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Gators Chomp Phoenix, 3-0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team went up against the Gators from Notre Dame of Maryland University this evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup. The Phoenix (2-10, 0-3) played a well-fought match but were defeated by the Gators (15-4, 4-0), three sets to none.

How It Happened: The match started off with Wilson jumping to a quick 7-0 lead in the first set. However, Notre Dame would take a timeout that helped take some momentum away from the strong Phoenix attack. Both teams would continue the match firing kills back and forth. Notre Dame would go on to win the first set 25-23. The second set was all Gators as they would go on to take an early, commanding lead and not look back. They would go on to win the set 25-16. The last set would start off the same way with Notre Dame taking an early lead. A Wilson timeout helped swing the momentum in their favor as they would start to chip away at the Gator lead. However, it proved to be too late for the Phoenix as they would lose this set 25-20. The Phoenix defense would prove to be strong in this match as the team finished the night with 13 blocks. 

Inside The Box Score: Freshman Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) and senior Hanna Quarry (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) would lead Wilson with seven kills a piece. Freshman Tia Jones (Springfield, Va., Lake Braddock) led both teams with 6 blocks, while freshman Kristina Zuniga (McAllen, Tx., King George) would lead the Phoenix with 13 digs and 17 assists. 

Up Next: Wilson will travel to Clarks Summit University this Saturday, October 6. Where they will face the Defenders at 11:00 a.m.
