Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to Lions

PALMYRA, Pa.- The Wilson College men's soccer team squared off this afternoon against the Penn State-Harrisburg Nittany Lions. The Phoenix (1-3-2) fought hard against their nonconference opponent, the Nittany Lions (10-0), but ultimately could not hold on, losing 5-1.

How It Happened: Penn State-Harrisburg came out firing early in this match, as they were able to sneak a goal by the Phoenix defense in the first five minutes of the half. The Nittany Lions were able to jump ahead to a 3-0 lead before senior Ethan Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii, Radford) fired a penalty kick into the back of the net. This not only gave Russ his second goal of the year, but put Wilson on the scoreboard for the night. The Nittany Lions would answer right back as they were able to score another goal before the end of the first half, giving them a 4-1 advantage. The second half started with another Penn State goal making it 5-1. Wilson, however would shut down the Nittany Lions after that goal holding them at bay for the rest of the match.

Inside The Box Score: Russ would lead all Phoenix with three shots. Seniors Justin Vizzi (Spotswood, NJ, Spotswood) and Kevin Lysaght (Toms River, NJ., Toms River North) each finished with one shot respectively, while junior Kieren Marshall (Melbourne, Australia, Haileybury) would go on the have four saves.

Up Next: The Phoenix will host Rosemont College at home on Saturday, September 29 at 1:30 p.m.
