Men's Soccer Falls Short In Double Overtime

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Wilson College men's soccer team dropped a tough one on the road to Juniata College. The Phoenix forced double overtime after regulation left both teams scoreless. The Eagles hands Wilson its first loss of the season.

How It Happened: The Wilson attack started off strong with a header from sophomore Samuel Appiah (Kumasi, Ghana, Opoku Ware School) within the first two minutes of the match. The attack kept coming early in the first half as the Phoenix would add more shots from Appiah and senior Ethan Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii, Radford). The defense also came out strong, in the first half, holding the Eagles to just two shots. The second half started off with Juniata and Wilson trading attacks before the Phoenix would attack with two shots by junior Marc Furfaro (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg) right before the end of regulation. Both teams battled in overtime, but Juniata would go on to score just two minutes into the second overtime.

Inside The Box Score: Appiah would go on lead the Phoenix with three shots on the night while Furfaro contributed two shots. Sophomore René Quintanilla (San Salvador, El Salvador, Chambersburg), senior Aaron Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii), senior Justin Vizzi (Spotswood, NJ, Spotswood), and Ethan Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii, Radford) each went on to add one shot. The Phoenix defense held the Eagles to 12 shots on the night, while adding 6 saves.
