Women's Basketball Falls To Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Wilson women's basketball team lost a nonconference matchup tonight against the Bobcats of Frostburg State University. The Bobcats (6-2, 0-0 CAC) defeated the Phoenix (2-4, 0-2 CSAC) by a final score of 76-33.

How It Happened: The Bobcats jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first quarter before senior Kai Wyatt (Catonsville, MD, Md Acad Tech & Hlth Sci) was able to knockdown her second three-pointer of the night and cut the lead down to just five points. Freshman Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) was able to get things going in this half, as she connected on two layups in the paint, both assisted from Wyatt. The Bobcats would go into halftime leading, 42-18. Wyatt and Posiulai would lead Wilson as halftime with eight and four points, respectivly. The Phoenix would shoot 32% from the floor while Frostburg State would go on to shoot 56%, in the first half.

Kai Wyatt was able to get things going in the second half as she was able to connect with another three-pointer, she would go on the shoot 50% from beyond-the-arc for the game. The Phoenix fought hard and tried to make several defensive stands but Frostburg State would not look back, as their defensive effort made it tough for Wilson to get much going in this contest. The Bobcats would go on to win this one, 76-33.

Inside The Box Score: Kai Wyatt would lead both teams in scoring, as she was able to to score 16 points. Tioleaoauli Posiulai would contribute six points and three rebounds while freshman Princess Frazier-Lyles (Montgomery Village, MD, Watkins Mill) was able to add two points and snatch six rebounds. The Phoenix would go on to shoot 25% from the floor and from the three-point line, while Frostburg State would go on to shoot 52% from the floor.
