Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Denied By Rosemont

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's basketball team took on the Ravens of Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) battle this afternoon here at Wilson College. The Phoenix (2-3, 0-2 CSAC) lost a tough matchup to the Ravens (4-2, 2-0 CSAC) by a score of 66-57.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Wilson would start the first five minutes of the game on a 10-2 run that featured a three-pointer from senior Kai Wyatt (Catonsville, MD, Md Acad Tech & Hlth Sci) and layups from senior Lindsey Purvis (Fort Myers, Fl, South Fort Myers) and freshman Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School). Rosemont would gather themselves and start a run of their own where they outscored the Phoenix 14-5. This gave Rosemont the lead, 16-15, at the end of the first quarter. Purvis would start things off for Wilson, as she was able to connect on her first two shot in the quarter, helping Wilson retake the lead 19-16. Rosemont would quickly recover a Phoenix turnover and hit a three to even everything up at 19 a piece. Kai Wyatt would respond, in a big way, with a three-pointer of her own that gave Wilson the lead, again, 22-19. Both teams would trade points and possessions throughout the rest of the quarter, as there was seven ties/lead changes in this quarter alone. Wilson would take the lead into halftime, 31-26.

The Ravens and Phoenix would come out of halftime firing on all cylinders. Rosemont would chip away at the Wilson lead and even things up at 44 a piece with four minutes left in the third quarter. The Ravens would then go on a 13-5 to end the third which brought the score to 57-49. Lindsey Purvis would have a big showing in this quarter as she would go on to hit all but one of the Phoenix's shots. Wilson fought hard and made several comeback attempts but could not retake the lead. The Ravens would go on to win by a score of 66-57.

Inside The Box Score: Purvis would go on to finish the night with a double-double that featured 10 rebounds and her career-high 29 points. Tioleaoauli Posiulai would be one rebound short of her own double-double, but would still finish with career-highs in points and rebounds with 13 and 9, respectively. The Phoenix would shoot 36% from the floor and 57% from the free-throw line.

Up Next: Wilson will travel to Frostburg, Md., this Monday, December 3, where they will take on the Bobcats of Frostburg University at 6:00 pm.
