Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Phoenix Edge Ravens, 88-82

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson men's basketball team played host to the Rosemont College Ravens this evening in the first CSAC contest of the season for the Phoenix. The Phoenix (2-5, 1-0 CSAC) grabbed a win against Rosemont (2-5, 0-1 CSAC) in what was an intense battle between the conference opponents.

How it Happened: Wilson came right out of the gates and took an 11-4 lead before Rosemont came right back and cut their deficit to two. Later in the half, with the Phoenix leading 20-19 , senior Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) drilled a three-pointer that was followed by a Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Texas, Forest Park) jumper. After Rosemont answered on the other end, Bean knocked down a triple of his own before Adams would snag a defensive rebound and go coast-to-coast and finish for two. Wilson led 30-22 with a little over eight minutes remaining in the half. Up 35-28 a few minutes later, Rosemont would hit two free throws that were followed by a Ravens three-pointer to make the score 35-33 in favor of the Phoenix. Freshman guard Adrian Thomas (Germantown, Md., Northwest HS) made a layup on the following possession to put Wilson back up four. After getting a stop on the defensive end, freshman RaeShaun Henderson (North Dinwiddie, Va., Dinwiddie HS) found senior Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) in transition for a three. With the score sitting at 40-33 with just under two minutes to play, Rosemont ended the half on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game. At the half, the Ravens led 41-40.

The second half was a possession by possession battle between the two teams. Wilson came out and immediately regained the lead off of a Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) three-pointer. With around twelve minutes remaining in the game, the Phoenix led 63-59. Sophomore guard Ian Hess (Orlando, Fla., Lyman) made consecutive layups for Wilson that were followed by a dunk by Keion Adams to cap off a small 6-2 run by the Phoenix. At the 4:30 mark, Wilson led 75-69, but several free throws and a made layup from the Ravens quickly cut the Phoenix lead to just one. Wilson answered with a layup from Keion Adams and a jumper by RaeShaun Henderson to push their lead back up to five with two minutes left. Down 81-76 with a minute left, Rosemont needed a few stops and scores to get back into the game. Basil Thompson helped his team tie the game at 81 as he scored 4 straight points, however Rashaan Bean came up with a huge and-1 for Wilson on the next possession. Bean made the free throw and the Phoenix led 84-81 with 36 seconds left. After Rosemont would hit one of two free throws, Keion Adams was fouled and knocked down both of his shots at the foul line. The Phoenix defense stood strong in the final 30 seconds which allowed them to hold on for an 88-82 victory.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson shot exactly 50% from the field and hit on 43% of their three-pointers. Rosemont shot 41% while only shooting 24% from three. Keion Adams led all-scorers with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Rashaan Bean had a solid night as well with 20 points while RaeShaun Henderson had a double-double of his own with 14 points and 10 boards.
