Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Giants Rumble Past Phoenix

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Phoenix women's basketball team traveled to Keystone College tonight for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) battle against the Giants. Keystone (2-5, 1-0 CSAC) was able to defeat the Phoenix (2-2, 0-1 CSAC) by a score of 60-41.

How it Happened: The contest began with good back-and-forth play between both teams as the score sat at 9-9 five minutes into the first quarter. However, Keystone would finish the quarter on a 12-4 run which was fueled by solid play on both ends of the court. Wilson trailed 21-13 at the end of one. After knocking down three three-pointers in the first quarter, Keystone would start the second quarter by knocking down three more triples. With the Phoenix fighting to hang around, the Giants pushed their lead up to 19 with 3:10 to play in the half. The Phoenix would go into the half down 39-23. Keystone shot 7-13 from three in the first half while the Phoenix were paced by senior Kai Wyatt (Catonsville, Md.) who had 10 points. The second half of play started with both teams going scoreless for three minutes until freshman Baylen Snyder (Dover, Pa, Dover Area) ended the drought with a three. Keystone would answer the bucket with a three of their own to regain their 16-point lead. Trailing late in the third, Wilson would need to make a run to cut into the Giants lead. As needed, the Phoenix would finish the period on a 11-5 run which was led by senior Lindsey Purvis (Fort Myers, Fla., South Fort Myers) who had 6 points during the run, and Kai Wyatt who added 5. Entering the final period of play, the Phoenix only trailed by 10. Once again the period started with both teams unable to buy a bucket as the first points came off of a Keystone three-pointer four minutes into play. Keystone would outscore the Phoenix 13-4 in the final session and would go on to win the game, 60-41.

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix had a poor shooting night as they shot 29% from the field and 25% from three. Wilson was struck by the turnover bug, the Giants forced 25 Phoenix turnovers on the night. Lindsey Purvis had a solid game with 17 points and 16 rebounds while Kai Wyatt contributed 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Up Next: The Phoenix will look to grab a win this weekend when they host Rosemont College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
