Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Rolls Past PSU York

YORK, Pa. - While the weather was cold and frigid outside the action was hot inside as the men's basketball team took on Penn State York in non-conference play. The Phoenix (7-5) topped the Nittany Lions (8-3) by a final score of 78-65.

How It Happened: The Phoenix grabbed the early lead as junior Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) opened the game by drilling a three-pointer with an assist from senior Willie McDowell (Baltimore, MD, Augusta Fells Savage Institute). Midway through the first half a 10-2 run capped off by a three-pointer by junior Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) gave the Phoenix a 17-9 lead. As the half wound down the Phoenix pushed their lead to 13 points on a pair of free throws by freshman Trevor Floyd (New Oxford, Pa., New Oxford). A pair of jumpers by the Nittany Lions cut their deficit to 9 points at the break as the Phoenix held a 37-28 lead. In the second half the Phoenix used a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 15 points, but the Nittany Lions chipped away at the lead and pulled within 8 points with just over four minutes to go. However, the Phoenix responded with an 8-0 run of their own, highlighted by a pair of jumpers by freshman Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn), as they closed out the game with a 78-65 victory.

Inside the Box Score: Adams led the way for the Phoenix as he tallied his fifth double-double of the season with a 20 point and 12 rebound effort. Frazier and McDowell added 15 points each.

Up Next: Wilson returns to conference play on Wednesday at Penn State Berks.
