READING, Pa. - Junior Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) broke the 1,000 career points barrier as Wilson College men's basketball defeated Penn State Berks this evening by a final score of  81-62. Adams led the Phoenix (8-5, 2-2 NEAC) with 22 points and freshman Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) added a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds in the victory over the Nittany Lions (1-11, 1-3 NEAC).

How It Happened: The Phoenix grabbed the early lead in the first half less than five minutes in as sophomore Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Tx, Forest Park) hit a three-pointer to put the visitors up 13-6. Midway through the half the Nittany Lions used a 9-2 run to tie things up at 21-21. Back-to back baskets by freshman Ian Hess (Orlando, Fl., Lyman ) and a pair of free throws by senior Willie McDowell (Baltimore, MD, Augusta Fells Savage Institute) put the Phoenix back on top 28-23 near the five minute mark. With less than a minute remaining in the opening half a three-pointer by junior Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) gave the Phoenix their largest lead of the half at nine points, but the Nittany Lions would score the last five points to make it a 39-35 game in favor of the Phoenix at the half. The second half began with a bucket by the Nittany Lions after which the Phoenix would go on a 10-0 run highlighted by back-to-back buckets by Powell to push the lead to 49-37. A three-pointer by Adams at the fourteen minute mark gave the Phoenix a commanding 17 point lead at 58-41. In the closing minutes of the game Adams connected on a three-pointer and then recorded his 1,000th career point on a layup with an assist from classmate Frazier to make the final score 81-62.
