Phoenix Torch Lions

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Today the Wilson College women's volleyball team played against the Bryn Athyn Lions in NEAC competition. The Phoenix defeated the Lions 3-0. This marks the women's volleyball program's first win. The Phoenix are now 1-9 overall and 1-3 in the NEAC while the Lions move to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

How It Happened: The Phoenix started out down the first set, but pulled ahead. The score remained close for the remainder, but the Phoenix come back gave them a win 27-25. The second set was a landslide victory for the Phoenix. Several times the Phoenix held a 10 point lead, and the final score of set two was 25-15. It didn't look like the Phoenix would pull through in the third set as they fell far behind the Lions, but the home team eventually tied up the score 11-11. After the two teams exchanged the lead several times, it was the Phoenix who came out on top 25-22 giving them a win in the third set and a 3-0 match victory over the Lions.

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix had 29 kills against 15 errors on 81 total attempts for a .173 attack percentage. The Lions had 18 kills against 10 errors on 67 total attempts for a .119 attack percentage. Sophomore Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl.) led the Phoenix offense with 15 kills, a season high for her. Baptiste also led the team in blocks with four. Freshman Leslie Farnes (Coconut Creek, Fl.) had 20 assists, another season high, and Hanna Quarry (Elizabethtown, Pa.) had 10 digs.
