Volleyball Topped at PSU Berks


READING, Pa. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team visited Penn State Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match-up today. The Nittany Lions (5-7, 3-0 NEAC) defeated the Phoenix (0-9, 0-3 NEAC) 3-0 by scores of 25-2, 25-5, 25-4.

How It Happened: The Nittany Lions came out on fire scoring twenty-three of the first twenty-four points of the first set. The Phoenix offense struggled to get going as the Nittany Lions closed out the set 25-2. During the second set, the Phoenix got kills from freshman Stephanie Pleasant (Philadelphia, Pa., W.B. Saul) and sophomore Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Coconut Creek), but it wasn't enough as the hosts took set #2 25-5. The third set mirrored the first two sets as the Phoenix couldn't get anything going on the day and the Nittany Lions took the final set 25-4. 

Inside the Box Score:  The Phoenix had 3 kills against 25 errors on 67 attempts for a -.328 attacking percentage, while the Nittany Lions posted a .346 attacking percentage on 24 kills against 6 errors on 52 attempts. Baptiste led the Phoenix with 2 kills while adding 2 blocks. Junior Hanna Quarry (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) had a team high 3 blocks while freshman Delaney Keown (Margate, Fl., Coconut Creek) led the team with 3 assists. Pleasant and freshman Sierra Hill (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown) each had 5 digs.
