Phoenix Blaze Patriots

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team played non-conference opponent University of Valley Forge and defeated them 4-0 for the Phoenix's second win of the season. The Phoenix now have a record of 2-1-1 and the Patriots are now 0-7.

How It Happened: The Phoenix scored their first goal at the 12:38 mark as junior Justin Vizzi (Spotswood, NJ) beat the defender in a chase and passed it in front of the goal. Vizzi's pass was met by junior Ethan Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii) who headed the ball in for a gorgeous first goal of the game. Before the half was over Ethan Russ scored two more goals, giving him a hat trick. One more goal would be scored before the first period ended. This time it was scored by junior Aaron Russ (Honolulu) with Ethan Russ on the assist as he passed the ball into the goal box for Aaron to tip in right past the goalkeeper. No goals were scored in the second period and the game ended 4-0 Phoenix.

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix kept the Patriots on the defensive for most of the game and had 8 corner kicks to the Patriots' 1. Overall the Phoenix had 26 shots while the Patriots had only three. Sophomore goalkeeper Kieren Marshall (Melbourne, Australia) now has a game record of 1-1.
