CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Phoenix women's volleyball team traveled to Cazenovia College for their second North Eastern Athletic Conference match of the season. The Wildcats (2-8, 1-1 NEAC) defeated the Phoenix in a five set match 3-2. The Phoenix are now 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the NEAC.
How It Happened: The Phoenix won the first set 25-21. With six kills compared to the Wildcats' 4 kills, the Phoenix had an offensive advantage to start. The Wildcats also had 8 errors in the first set while the Phoenix kept their errors to a minimum with only 4. The second set however, was 18-25 in favor of the hosting Wildcats. The Phoenix's attack percentage dropped .074 from the set before. The third set was another victory for the opponents, ending 19-25 Wildcats. But the Phoenix made a return in the fourth set with a .400 attack percentage to get a 25-17 win. Unfortunately, the Wildcats took the last set 15-8 and the match went down as a win in the books for the Wildcats.
Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix had 23 kills against 28 errors on 110 attempts for a -.045 attack percentage while the Wildcats had 26 kills against 24 errors on 111 attempts for a .018 attack percentage. The Phoenix had a forcible 9 blocks in today's match. Sophomore
Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl.) led the Phoenix in kills with 9, freshman
Delaney Keown (Margate, Fl.) had 7 aces, and freshman
Leslie Farnes (Coconut Creek, Fl.) led in both assists and digs with 16 and 13 respectively.
