Men's Volleyball Blanked by Behrend

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's volleyball team hosted Penn State Behrend in a non-conference match-up this evening. The Nittany Lions defeated the Phoenix by a score of 3-0.

The Nittany Lions (6-7) topped the Phoenix (5-16) by scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-20. Freshman Nick Baxter (Denver, Pa., Cocalico) led the Phoenix attack with a game high 13 kills while adding 2 service aces and 7 digs. Sophomore Aaron Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa., Commonwealth Connections Academy) added 10 kills and 8 digs  while sophomore Evan Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa., Commonwealth Connections Academy) tallied a team high 13 digs. Leading the way with a match high 4 services aces was sophomore Zachary Zerr (Dallastown, Pa, Dallastown Area H.S.), who also added 3 blocks.

For the match the Phoenix had 34 kills against 19 errors on a 112 attempts for a .134 attacking percentage, while the Nittany Lions had 38 kills against 11 errors on 97 attempts for a .278 attacking percentage.

Tonight was the final home regular season match for the Phoenix, but the team will be back in action on March 18 and 19 at  a NEAC crossover hosted by Penn State Altoona. The Phoenix will battle Keuka College, Wells College, and SUNY Poly. The matches will be played at Mount Aloysius College as Penn State Altoona is undergoing renovations.
