Phoenix Defeated by Wolves

MARCY, NY - The Wilson College men's volleyball team traveled to Marcy for a NEAC crossover where they took on the Keuka College Wolves. The Wolves came out victorious 3-1.

The Phoenix (1-5, 0-1) won the third set 27-25. But the Wolves (2-1, 1-0) won the match by scores of 13-25 in the first, 23-25 in the second, and 22-25 in the fourth set. Keuka took the first set, but the Phoenix allowed very little leeway for the remaining sets. The Phoenix held the lead 15-9 in the second before the Wolves took it back. In the third set the Phoenix were behind but rallied for the lead to take the set 27-25. The Wolves took the fourth set, however, to end the match 3-1. 

For the match the Phoenix had 37 kills against 34 errors on 146 attempts for a .021 attacking percentage while the Wolves had 44 kills against 24 errors on 148 attempts for a .135 attacking percentage. Freshman Ian Firestone (York, Pa.) fueled the Phoenix offense with 32 assists. Sophomore Aaron Hoke (Chambersburg, Pa.) led the Phoenix in digs with 23, kills with 17, and aces with 3.

The Phoenix's next match is tomorrow against Wells College at 1:00 p.m in Utica, NY.
