Mustangs Corral Phoenix

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team hosted Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference action this afternoon. The visiting Mustangs (6-8-1, 5-2-1 NEAC) defeated the Phoenix (5-7-2, 3-4-0) by a final score of 2-0.

How It Happened: In a match that was very physical from the beginning, it was the Mustangs who would strike first getting on the board in the fourth minute as Stephen Oduro took a pass from Jose Figueroa and found the back if the net for the 1-0 lead. The Phoenix first shot on goal came via senior Shayne Ray (Sharptown, Md., Mardela) just before the midway point of the half but a Mustang defender kicked it away for a defensive save. Neither team put a shot on goal the rest of the half and the Mustangs led 1-0 at the break. The second half started much like the first half with the Mustangs scoring early. Daniel Agboba took a pass in the middle and found the back of the goal for a 2-0 lead. Junior Aaron Russ (Honolulu, Hawaii) tried to respond a few minutes later but his shot was stopped by the Mustangs goalkeeper. The Mustangs defense buckled down and didn't allow the Phoenix to get another shot on goal the rest of the way and closed the game out with a 2-0 win.

Inside the Box Score: The Mustangs out shot the Phoenix 13-8 including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. The visitors also held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks in a match that saw 42 fouls called.
