Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Green Terror Frighten Phoenix into a Loss

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Today the McDaniel College Green Terror traveled to Chambersburg to kick off against the Phoenix's men's soccer team in non-conference competition. The Phoenix were defeated by the Green Terror 1-5. This moves the Phoenix to 5-6-1 while they remain and even 3-3 in the NEAC. The Green Terror now has a season record of 8-3-2.

How It Happened: Both teams came out hard wanting the win. The first half was an even battle as both teams had 7 shots each. The Phoenix and the Green Terror were each pushing hard on offense and staying strong on defense. The Phoenix defense kept a tight zone as they blocked shots away from the goal and diverted the ball up the field for their forwards. But the second half, although it started 0-0, quickly took a turn in favor of the Green Terror. Nick Bowman scored the game's first goal as he dribbled through several defenders and went straight to goal. The next goal for the Green Terror was off a penalty kick. Unfortunately, goal number three against the Phoenix was an own goal as the defender erred while clearing the ball. With the score up 3-0 the momentum was shifting and staying heavily in the Green Terror's favor. They added goal number four to their tally as Jacob Wells put the ball in the net. The score was up 4-0, but the Phoenix weren't giving up. They moved the ball down the field into their offensive zone and after a shot rebounded off the goalkeeper, sophomore Luis Cevallos (Guayaquil, Ecuador) hammered the ball into the net with ease. His goal put the Phoenix on the scoreboard more than 77 minutes into the game. But the Green Terror went on to score again, this time off a cross pass into header shot that was unstoppable. The Terror took the win today 5-1 over the hosting Phoenix.

Inside the Box Score: The Terror out shot the Phoenix only slightly 17-14 while the Phoenix had the edge in corner kicks 5-2. This was Cevallos' first goal of the season.

Up Next: The Phoenix travel to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. to compete against Juniata College.
