Men's Soccer Falls to Chargers

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team traveled to Lancaster Bible College for a North Eastern Athletic Conference where the hosting Chargers defeated the Phoenix 3-0.
 
While the Chargers (6-6, 4-4 NEAC) had the first shot of the game, the Phoenix (4-7-2, 3-4-2 NEAC) put the first on goal, with a shot from
Effren Amezquita (Xela, Guatemala). The game remained scoreless for most of the first period until Justin Stoltzfus scored with five minutes left in the first half with a free kick from 35 yards out that came off the bar and went in the net. The second shot from the Phoenix came from Oliver Perry (London, England), who hit a header just wide of the goal. The Chargers outshot the Phoenix 6-2 first half. The period ended with the Chargers holding a 1-0 lead over the Phoenix.
 
The Chargers outshot the Phoenix in the second half 8-2. For the Phoenix, Perry had his second header shot of the game but Chargers goalkeeper Vann Sutphin saved it.
Shane Ray (Sharptown, Md.) had the second shot of the period for the Phoenix but it went high. The Chargers second goal came from Justin Stoltzfus, his second of the game off another free kick. With just over 10 minutes left, the Chargers scored their third and final goal of the game, a chip shot from Marco Patz over the head of the goalkeeper.
 
The Phoenix and the Chargers were 5-5 for corner kicks, the Chargers outshot the Phoenix 14-4.
