Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Topped by Wells and Cazenovia

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team competed in a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference matches today versus Wells College and Cazenovia College. The Phoenix lost both matches by scores of 3-0.

In the opening match, the Phoenix (0-17, 0-9 NEAC) fell to the Wells College Express (15-5, 7-1 NEAC) by scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-10. The Phoenix were led by freshman
Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Coconut Creek) who tallied 5 kills, 12 digs and 4 blocks. Freshman Erin Claycomb (Queen, Pa., Claysburg-Kimmel) led the team with 1 service ace. Leading the team in assists was freshman Simahj James (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Northeast High) with 7 and sophomore Hanna Quarry (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) added 8 digs. For the match the Phoenix had 11 kills against 19 errors on 95 attempts for -.084 attacking percentage. 

The second match of the day featured the Cazenovia College Wildcats (1-18, 1-8 NEAC). The Wildcats defeated the Phoenix by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-14. Leading the Phoenix was Jean-Baptiste with 6 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs. Claycomb had a match high 3 service aces, while adding 6 assists and 2 blocks. For the match the Phoenix had 17 kills against 18 errors for a -.014 attacking percentage.

Wilson will be back in action tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. versus Keuka College.
