Randy Hood

Randy Hood joined the Wilson Phoenix in July 2025 after serving as the head coach for Penn State Mont Alto. During his time with Mont Alto, the Nittany Lions saw unprecedented success with two USCAA national championships, a USCAA runner-up finish, and a USCAA fourth place finish. Over that stretch they went 134-63 overall, 65-20 in conference, and won two conference championships. Hood guided them to the postseason in each of his eight seasons with USCAA national tournament appearances the last four seasons.
Highlighting that stretch were two USCAA national championships where Nittany Lions went unbeaten in league competition and won two PSUAC titles in 2022 and 2023. Following the first title, he was also named the USCAA National Coach of the Year.
Mont Alto was also runner-up in 2021 and fourth place in 2024. Through the on-court success, Hood has coached 12 USCAA All-Americans, 27 Academic All-Americans, three PSUAC Rookies of the Year, and 21 All-PSUAC selections.
Overall, Hood brings with him 16 years of experience as a head coach in addition to many more at various levels in the central Pennsylvania region.
